A.R. Gurney’s “Sylvia” the heartwarming and hilarious tale of how one extraordinary dog almost wrecks a marriage.
Kate and Greg have had a long and happy marriage, the kids are grown and on their own so it’s time to downsize and move to the city from the suburbs. A chance at last to enjoy the finer things of life or so Kate thinks.
Kate’s career is on a roll but Greg is unhappy with his. One day on a break from the office stress Greg goes for a walk in the park and encounters a homeless but loveable mutt bearing a nametag that says ‘Sylvia.’
“Sylvia” stars Patricia Thomas, Phillip Seipp, Jane Saunders and, as Sylvia, Colleen Fox. “Sylvia” is directed by Ed Schneider.
“Sylvia” debuts on the Cannery Stage September 9 with a gala opening reception and continues until October 2 with performances Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 8 p.m. and a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $19 ($17 students/seniors) including HST and may be purchased in person at the Wine Country Visitor’s Centre, 553 Railway Avenue Penticton, or by phone by calling (250)493-4055.
