Here’s some helpful information for you to know about your trip to Penticton:

To Enter Canada By Air:
As of January 23, 2007, US citizens are required to show a valid passport, NEXUS Air Card, or Merchant Mariner Documents (MMD).
To Enter Canada By Land or Sea:
Until January 1, 2008, US citizens will require proof of citizenship such as birth certificate, resident alien card, or green card, and proof of residence such as driver’s license to enter Canada. A passport or visa is not required, but is recommended. After January 1, 2008 US citizens will require a passport to enter Canada by land or sea.

To obtain a passport, US Citizens can visit the US State Department's travel website
www.travel.state.gov, or call the US National Passport Information Center at 1-877-487-2778. Please allow 6 weeks for processing of your passport application if you apply from within the US. If you must travel urgently and require a passport sooner, please visit
www.travel.state.govfor additional information.

Visitors from other countries other than the US require a passport and in some cases a visa. For more information contact Canada Customs at 1.800.461.9999 (in Canada) or 204.983.3500 (outside Canada).
If traveling to Penticton from another country keep in mind that all dogs and cats that are older than three months require a certificate from a licensed veterinarian, stating that the pet has been vaccinated against rabies in the previous 36 months.
All personal firearms and other weapons along with self defense sprays are not allowed in Canada.
Alcohol:
Visitors older than 19 are allowed to bring 1.14 litres of liquor, 1.5 litres of wine or 24 355 ml of beer or ale into BC.
Heading back to the United States you are allowed to bring two bottles duty free and the duty is 20 cents per bottle after that.
Driving in BC:
Visitors are able to drive in BC for up to six months with a valid driver’s license from another province, state or country.

Languages:
English and French are the official languages of Canada. English is predominant throughout BC.
Legal drinking age:
The legal drinking age in BC is 19.Minors are not allowed in nightclubs, pubs or bars.
Gratuities and tipping:
Tips and gratuities are usually not included on the bill. Standard gratuity would be 10 to 15 % on the amount before taxes.
