Important Notice
May 28, 2007
All travelers who want to book a vacation rental property in the City of Penticton MUST READ the following message:
Pursuant to the City’s Zoning Bylaw (No. 87-65) accommodations for the traveling public are only permitted on properties for which the zoning classification allows a Motel or a Hotel as a permitted use; those being:
*General Commercial, Heavy Commercial and Tourist Commercial zoned properties
Accommodations for the traveling public are not permitted in any other zones; therefore single family or multi family zoned properties cannot be rented out for the accommodation of the traveling public or as “Vacation Rentals”.
Please note that the same zoning bylaw is in place for the Regional District of the South Okanagan Similkameen, which includes the town of Naramata.
If you have already booked accommodation with a vacation rental in the Penticton area you are advised to contact the accommodator to ensure the security of your deposit or payment should the operation be closed down by Bylaw Services.
Please contact the Penticton Visitor Centre for further information or alternate accommodation options.
Sincerely,
Aaron McRann
