Just a short drive from Penticton, Apex Mountain is a snow-covered playground for downhill skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, ice skating, tubing, snowmobiling and a number of other outdoor winter activities. Just past Apex is Nickel Plate Nordic Centre, a pristine wilderness area with an extensive network of trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.

Nickel Plate Lake

This Trail heads north and is mainly flat, paralleling Nickel Plate Lake leading into Nickel Plate Provincial Park at the North end of the lake.
Special note: Part of this trail is located within a Provincial Park. Please stay on designated trails, observe all signs and notices.

Nickel Plate Nordic Centre boasts 65 km of groomed trails for both classic and skate skiing. There are also well marked backcountry and snowshoe trails.At 6000 ft elevation Nickel Plate enjoys one of the longest ski season in the western hemisphere, with trails for all abilites. Nickel Plate has a warm and cozy 4000 sq ft lodge with a kitchen, eating and lounge areas, and seperate heated washroms and shower facilites. They offer a full line of of rental equipment, professional instruction, races and special events.
