Penticton is privileged to be at the cross roads of the Kettle Valley Trail (KVR Trail), with trail access right in town heading south to Okanagan Falls along Skaha Lake, north to Summerland on the west side of Okanagan Lake, and north to Myra Canyon on the east side of Okanagan Lake.
The views are stunning in all directions, but one of the KVR Trail's most prized locations, the Myra Canyon, is truly spectacular. June 2008 saw the re-opening of the Myra Canyon Trestles after a devastating wild fire destroyed 16 of 18 trestle bridges in the Myra Canyon.
The world has re-discovered the Myra Canyon and the scenic ride (mostly downhill) from Myra to Penticton. This ride is 80 km and takes approximately 6 hours of riding.
You'll be amazed as you cross 18 trestles on the first hour of your ride!
Several shuttle companies are available to drive you to the northern starting point of the Myra Canyon so that you can enjoy the ride home to Penticton.
Along the way you'll have the opportunity to enjoy refreshments at Chute Lake Resort, several wineries in Naramata which back onto the trail, and a great little fruit (and ice cream!) stand right on the trail closer to Penticton.
All in all, a wonderful way to spend time in Penticton!
