Climbers from around the world flock to this bodacious range of north-south canyons around Penticton that are heralded as offering some of the best rock climbing experiences anywhere. The
Skaha Bluffs are a series of north-south facing canyons with cliffs of up to 80 meters on either side, providing some shady respite from the summer heat of the Okanagan.
Along with amazing Okanagan views, these gneissic cliffs that loom large over Skaha Lake offer more than 500 bolted rock climbing routes (rated 5.6 to 5.13) to keep you climbing for hours. The
Skaha Bluffs area of Penticton is most widely known as a sport climbing area, but
Skaha Bluffs also provide plenty of opportunities for traditional climbing. In total there are 650 routes on some outstanding edgy terrain in the warm Okanagan Valley.
Experienced climbers with their own gear can access the area from the new entrance off of Smythe Road, just south of Penticton, by following Lakeside Road for about 2.5km. A 10 to 15 minute walk takes you to the climbing area from the parking lot.
